A.M.I.’s
American programs have become very popular, as it brings together communities
and crosses all boundaries.
We offer an
intensive one-week program, with 6 different elements combined to reach all
ages, affiliations and backgrounds within a local Jewish community. Our leadership from Israel reaches
out to local artists and musicians to involve them in programs that target
school children, university students, and young adults. From workshops to performances to personal
discussions about Israel,
the A.M.I. team visits a different school every day, working with the community
to explore their Jewish identity through song-writing, ensemble performance,
drumming and artwork. We engage through song, dance and storytelling,
incorporating the visual arts of the participants into the programs.
Beyond our
workshops, programs can include:
Coordination of community concerts with
performances by A.M.I. musicians, creating an ambience conducive to
sharing views on Jewish identity. These concerts are followed by a dialogue
between the artists and the audience, enabling participants to meet the
band members and discuss life in Israel as seen through the
message of the lyrics.
In some communities, a Shabbaton is hosted, with
Friday night services, dinner and an Oneg Shabbat.
Community-wide contests on art and music during
the week of our program.
Finale Concert: The week culminates in a grand
finale event that includes:
Exhibition of work by
community artists
Display of winning art from
the week-long contest
Sample song-making workshop
Multi-media presentations by
the artists
Performance by students from

Concert by popular Israeli

Schools
In the
academic year of 2009-2010, we are working with 11 schools, providing
workshops, and significant follow up to ensure that goals are met. The
workshops are held 5 times a year, revolving around Jewish holidays, reaching
approximately 180 students each day over the course of several days.
The schools
are located in different parts of Israel,
including Be’er Sheva in the south, Kiryat Bialeck, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Cholon.
